David Johansen Live
In blissful appreciation of the new New York Dolls album, "One Day It Will Please Us to Remember Even This," I dug deep into the vinyl crates and came up with a live David Johansen album.Johansen released "Live It Up" in 1982, about five years after the Dolls split and a couple of years before Buster Poindexter came along. Fellow Doll Sylvain Sylvain frequently performed with Johansen, but is not featured on this album. The musicians are Huw Gower, a studio musician of some reknown, on lead guitar; David Nelson on rhythm guitar; Brett Cartwright, currently of Foghat, on bass; Tony Machine on drums; and keyboardist Charlie Giordano, who recently sat in with Bruce Springsteen for "The Seeger Sessions" album.
These recordings are from two shows - Feb. 4 and 5, 1982 - at Boston's Paradise Theater.

David Johansen doesn't really have a Web site, but there there is a New York Dolls site, and you can also go to the Roadrunner Records site for more information about Johansen and the Dolls.
