New Dillinger Four is here! Nao!

I got an email yesterday telling me that the long-delayed Dillinger Four album has finally seen the light of day.

Civil War, the band’s first studio album since 2002’s Situationist Comedy, was released October 14 on Fat Wreck Chords. The disk has been in the works since mid-2006, during which time D4 put the record on hold several times while they tended to other aspects of their lives. In 2007, bass player Patrick Costello said, “Right now it's more that Lane (Pederson, D4’s drummer) is having a baby and Billy (Morrisette, guitarist) might be selling his house. Just all sorts of crazy shit like that.”

Things got so crazy with the album that on April 1 this year, Punknews.org poked fun at Civil War’s long-delayed release by making an April Fool’s Day fake news post complete with fake cover art and song titles.

D4 announced in July that they were entering Minneapolis’ Terrarium Studio, along with producer Dave Gardener, in order to finish the album. Fat Wreck Chords set an official release date, Dillinger Four posted an official track listing, and a new song, “Americaspremierfaithbasedinitiative,” was made available on the D4 MySpace. “We weren't trying not to put out a record,” said guitarist Erik Funk. “It was just one thing after another and time flew by.”

The band met the October 14 release date and the album, according to Interpunk.com, is “worth every second of the interminable wait.” Check out these tracks and you’ll probably agree. Then go here to buy the album.

I saw the D4 open for NOFX last nite. They were great as always. Played some new stuff as well as my favorites (opened with the awesome Noble Stabbings) I completely spaced about buying the cd. I even bought a T-shirt at their booth and STILL forgot to buy the cd. What a moron I am!

I think they played "A jingle" last nite, but I don't remember for sure. Paddy did most of the singing, but they did say a couple of the song were new.
